New Music From Hit the Lights

Listen to 'Anthem' below:

Lyrics:

I've made mistakes
I know you're mad, so please let me explain
I won't pretend it's fine but now I'm thinking more clearly
since I've been back on my feet
life just got the best of me
I lost myself, and couldn't find the key

So I tried to break free

Now I believe
that life is short and death is bittersweet
I needed a reminder that not everything's easy
and I'm still understanding
what my place in all this means
but I'll do my best with what the future brings

I've gotta learn to love me

All I need
is anthem I can sing out every day
A battlecry to take my pain away
I'll try harder just the same
but I need an anthem
an anthem can save me

I'm sorry now for what I did
I only wanted peace
I know you may not understand
but I was down and looking for release
release, yeah

So I tried to break free

BROADSIDE UNCOVER “HIDDEN COLORS”

Paradise, New Album Coming June 16
On Tour Now

“Hidden Colors,” the track that kicks off BROADSIDE’s highly anticipated album is here today. The bands second studio album, Paradise, is set for worldwide release on June 16. BROADSIDE continues their North American tour tonight in Sacramento with Real Friends, Have Mercy, Tiny Moving Parts and Nothing, Nowhere, with more summer dates to be announced soon.

On the clip, vocalist Ollie Baxxter explains, “We wanted to represent the women in our life with the utmost respect and how grateful we are for them. We live in a very romantic time, but not enough people are focusing on where the romance actually comes from, the pure undying desire for love. ‘Hidden Colors’ is about young lovers in the night. It’s about telling that person just what you appreciate about them. You can NEVER tell someone enough how much they actually mean to you.”

Cast your vote now for BROADSIDE as ‘Best Underground Band’ at Alternative Press and watch the awards on July 17, 2017. And stay tuned as more summer and fall tour dates will be announced soon.

Wore - Different Houses

Wore

Different Houses

Out May 12

Despite the backlash our last article on Wore received, we carry on. Bands break up, feelings get hurt, rumors get started. We understand that, but for fuck's sake, don't attack us because we're supporting a band.

Anyway, Wore, formerly Novelty, have completely rebranded, changing the new and sonic direction of their music. Not too long ago they released their first single "Bleached."

Now, with a second track finished, the band is ready to release them together on their debut EP Different Houses. The full EP will be officially released via Darth Fader Records on May 12, 2017. Both songs were mixed and mastered by Mat Kerekes of Citizen. The cassette is limited to 100 copies and has been available for preorder along with a T-shirt since the single was released.

As you hear in 'Bleached,' Wore's sound is much different than their previous project. Influenced by bands like Title Fight and Basement, Wore's sound is almost... gritty, instead of punk. In my opinion, though, Wore most cloesly resemble Can't Swim, a New Jersey band that has quickly found success over the last year.

Make sure you pick up a copy, as they are limited to 100 and pre-orders have already decimated the supply.

Conveyer Release Single Off New Album

CONVEYER ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM NO FUTURE
“Whetstone” Single Released
Tour Kicks Off May 20
Album Available June 23

CONVEYER has announced details behind their new album, No Future, set for release on Victory Records on June 23, 2017. “Our goal with No Future was to capture the energy and passion of a CONVEYER live show on record,” reveals guitarist Ty Brooks. Today, the band unleashes a new video for the track “Whetstone,” a furious, staunch anthem towards the brokenness of the current world.

“Whetstone, This song was inspired by experiencing the hurt and stress that I'm sure a lot of Christians my age have gone through. We have all seen how taxing and frustrating dating and serious relationships can be between the religious beliefs of two people, whether too similar or too divided. After many years that I've identified as a Christian, allowing my beliefs and biases to be redefined, I've realized how unhealthy and toxic relationships can be when people over-spiritualize their lack of certainty in life. “Whetstone” is my take on digesting this experience and re-evaluating what I believe on these relationships.” Vocalist Danny Adams

Putting their DIY ethos to the side, CONVEYER entered Silver Bullet Studio in Connecticut with producer Greg Thomas (Shai Hulud, Misery Signals, With Honor) in January 2017. “This was the first record that we have ever worked on with a producer and we couldn’t be happier with how it came out. A lot of work went into shaping and re-arranging each song to make them the best that they could be. We are so grateful to him, Chris Teti and everyone else at the studio. We are very proud of No Future and we are looking forward to working on the next record with our family at Silver Bullet.”

CONVEYER wrapped up 2016 with a final run behind their Victory Records debut, 2015’s When Given Time To Grow, touring with label mates High Hopes, as well as Prophets, Ghost Key, For The Win and others. The band is ready to return to Canada and circle North America performing cuts from No Future live for the very first time. “We can't wait for No Future to be released and to play these songs in as many rooms as we can. This is the biggest and heaviest record that we have written to date,” promises Brooks. CONVEYER’s first shows of 2017 begin May 20 in Franklin, IN, with support from Church Tongue, and on select dates, Kennedy and Colour In The Clouds.

ISLANDER DEBUT VIDEO FOR “CASKET”

ISLANDER DEBUT VIDEO FOR “CASKET”
New Tour Dates Revealed

ISLANDER has premiered “Casket,” the fifth and final video from their latest album, Power Under Control, exclusively at Revolver Magazine. “Would you rather be devoured by the hounds of hell?” asks vocalist Mikey Carvajal, as the standout clip showcases the rock ‘n’ roll band’s fearless pursuit into unexplored territory. The video comes as ISLANDER prepare for some intimate club shows before joining the ‘Summer Of Serenity Tour’ alongside Korn, Stone Sour and Baby Metal.

"We actually shot this video on NASA's property in Florida,” states Carvajal. “We were riding to a show with the director, Nathan Mowery, and saw a spot that looked good to dig some graves down a gravel road. Once a NASA helicopter started hovering right above us, it was pretty apparent that we probably should have picked another spot. Thankfully, we were already done shooting. Also, we didn't find any aliens, sadly. Lyrically, when I was writing “Casket,” I felt like I took a page out of the Johnny Cash playbook. I think the song speaks for itself, it's a jammer."

Before teaming up with their former road comrades Korn, ISLANDER has announced a batch of summer headlining dates with special guests Bad Seed Rising and The Funeral Portrait.

ForeverandNever Release "Promises" Music Video

Nashville, TN rock outfit ForeverandNever have released a music video for their song "Promises," the title track on their forthcoming 3-song EP, scheduled to be self-released on June 2nd.

The video was directed by Vince Lundi, and can be seen below:

"Everyone knows the anecdote about growing up with dreams and desires, and how as we grow, our station in life, friends, loved ones etc can steer us away from what we know we were made for. 'Promises' is a narrative about how one person can steer you away from that path and turn you into something that you never wanted to be. The video mirrors that inner turmoil, and how we torture and kill our true selves trying to find happiness by becoming a facade, in denial who we really are."

After 3 EPs, one full-length, thousands of miles, and a couple hundred shows, ForeverandNever have found themselves ready to take over the world (or at least your iTunes playlist). Dealing with the arduous task of being a rock band in Mississippi, the group garnered a solid local and regional following, and decided that maybe it was time to start pursuing music as a career, so they packed up their lives and moved to Nashville.

ForeverandNever have played with notable bands including A Day to Remember, New Found Glory, Mayday Parade, Underoath, and many more. This past year, the band were fortunate enough to record with Saves The Day guitarist and producer, Arun Bali, who has begun to help the band streamline and polish their sound.

ForeverandNever have a short string of shows coming up. Dates are listed below.

Upcoming Shows:
May 19 - Knoxville, TN at Purple Polilla
May 20 - Birmingham, AL at 3029
May 25 - Muncie, IN at Be Here Now
May 26 - Indianapolis, IN at Hoosier Dome
May 28 - Cleveland, OH at The Foundry
June 3 - Tupelo, MS at The Link Centre

Rayner - Las Vegas Rock

Rayner is:

  • Daniel "Panda" Henrriquez - Vocals
  • Rory Child - Guitar
  • Christopher Piro - Guitar
  • Manny Panda - Bass
  • David Bartlett - Drums

Rayner is a 5-piece rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada. Formed in 2014, the band quickly got to work writing songs with lyrics influenced by the tragedies of the world around them, life’s defeats, and celebrating their failures, all while juxtaposed with a pop-punk musical backing. In January 2016, the band self-released their debut album "In Circles" and began touring in support of it across the southwest. Their unique sound and work-ethic earned Rayner a spot on the main stage of 2016's Punk Rock Bowling and Music Festival. They've also had the opportunity to play with an eclectic mix of national acts including: Unwritten Law, PEARS, Buck-O-Nine, Direct Hit!, Authority Zero, Jeff Rosenstock, and Fenix TX. Riding their momentum and refusing to sit still for very long, the band immediately began working on new material. What came from those sessions were 5 songs for an EP titled "Disasters." Further defining their pop-punk sound, the band works with the genre while bringing in new influences. Rayner is also not holding back lyrically as they focus this time on subjects including: sexual constructs, the loss of a friend, the nature of beliefs, and the occasional drunk epiphany. If it all sounds a bit too complicated, don't worry; the band prides itself on having as much fun as possible and treating every show like it's a party among friends. So grab a beer and come embrace the inevitable darkness that will eventually consume us all

BROADSIDE REVEAL NEW ALBUM DETAILS

Paradise, New Album Coming June 16, Pre-Orders Available Now
“Puzzle Pieces,” New Video and Digital Single Released
Tour Kicks Off Today

The wait is over! BROADSIDE will be releasing their second studio album, Paradise, returning to the music scene with a larger than life eagerness to inspire. Today, the band releases the first video and single, “Puzzle Pieces,” with longtime supporter Alternative Press, who nominated BROADSIDE as ‘Best Underground Band’ for this year’s AP Music Awards. Paradise will be available on vinyl, CD and digitally on June 16. Starting tonight, audiences will be treated to new cuts from Paradise as BROADSIDE hit the road with Real Friends, Have Mercy, Tiny Moving Parts and Nothing, Nowhere.

“We have been picking ourselves apart to really find the focus of what people will think when they hear the name BROADSIDE with this new record,” confides front-man Ollie Baxxter. On “Puzzle Pieces,” he continues, “As I’m getting older and the band progresses, we’re being put into situations where we have the opportunity to reach a wider audience. Do we take advantage of those opportunities or stay true to who we are and express our ideals? Eventually you must ask yourself, at what cost does this come? Do I edit myself or do I speak the harsh reality of the creative industry? Puzzle pieces - it takes one piece to either start or finish an entire piece of art.”

Since the release of 2015’s Old Bones, their Victory Records debut, Baxxter adds, “We bypassed our goals, made an explicit vision for our future, and are counting down the days until Paradise is released. We are locking in a sound and an image to represent our music, our absolutely loving fans, and the future audience of BROADSIDE.”

By the summer of 2016, BROADSIDE circled the US multiple times with the likes of State Champs, Roam, and Handguns to name a few, and the demand for their punk-rooted pop anthems escalated as they were constantly ushered to larger stages during that summers’ Vans Warped Tour.

Now calling Los Angeles home, the former Virginia natives teamed up once again with New Found Glory and All Time Low producer Kyle Black in January 2017 to lay down the groundwork for Paradise. “You know what, Kyle Black is a wildman who knows what he is doing, and we were lucky to be able to record another record with him,” admits Baxxter. Immediately following the Paradise sessions, BROADSIDE packed their gear and headed to the United Kingdom for an inaugural tour supporting With Confidence, bowling over new fans and taking a well-deserved seat at the table of their peers.

Named ‘Musician Of The Month’ by Alternative Press in March 2017, guitarist Dorian Cooke’s resilient vocals take the lead on the soulful hymn “Laps Around A Picture Frame,” while “Tunnel Vision” will quickly land as live favorite with its skyscraping vocals. And Paradise doesn’t just have storming tracks, the lofty “Who Cares” beams with the bands inner personalities of turning a bad situation into quick-witted humor, while the balance between Baxxter and Cooke’s vocals on “Summer Stained” is damn near perfect. BROADSIDE expand their sound into unheard punk turf incorporating trumpet on the first single “Puzzle Pieces,” and the Morrissey-channeled, ukulele driven, “I Love You, I Love You. It’s Disgusting.” “This record is the sound we have been trying to achieve our whole career, we aren't afraid to try new things and that is apparent with Paradise,” declares guitarist Niles Gregory.

Cast your vote now for BROADSIDE as ‘Best Underground Band’ at Alternative Press and watch the awards on July 17, 2017. And stay tuned as more summer and fall tour dates will be announced soon.
