BLACK STAR RIDERS DEBUT FIRST TRAILER FOR THIRD ALBUM, ‘HEAVY FIRE’

A few weeks ago, Black Star Riders announced their third studio album, Heavy Fire, set for release via Nuclear Blast Entertainment on February 3rd, 2017. The band has now revealed the first video trailer in which frontman Ricky Warwick explains the writing process behind the forthcoming album and looks forward to the band's March 2017 UK tour: 

When discussing the writing of Heavy Fire, Warwick comments: "Myself and Damon Johnson work really well together. We went to our manager's house in Southern California - he was away for a week so Damon flew in from Nashville and I drove down from my place in LA and we hung out there for a week. I brought in a bunch of ideas and lyrics and Damon brought in some stuff too. By the end of the four or five days we had ten or twelve solid songs together, which was great. We work very quickly together because we're always very well prepared and we're always writing individually."

The band's previous album, The Killer Instinct, was released in 2015 to widespread critical acclaim and went on to score multiple radio playlists. A solid year of worldwide touring culminated in December 2015 in an UK arena tour alongside Def Leppard and Whitesnake.
 
2016 saw the band return to the studio with The Killer Instinct’s producer Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, The Foo Fighters, Mastodon), at his studio just outside Nashville. The resultant album is Black Star Riders’ most accomplished work to date. From the immediate riffs of album opener Heavy Fire to the instant hooks of first single “When The Night Comes In,” from the dirty bass groove of “Thinking About You Could Get Me Killed” to the familiar and trademark dual guitars of Gorham and Johnson on “Testify Or Say Goodbye,” this is an album that will further cement BSR’s reputation as one of the world premiere rock acts.

Influential Southern California punk rock pioneers T.S.O.L. will make their awaited return in 2017 with a new record label and their 11th studio album. The band has announced today, they have signed with Rise Records and will release their highly anticipated album The Trigger Complex on January 27th. T.S.O.L. has also debuted the upcoming record’s first new track, “I Wanted To See You.”

T.S.O.L., short for True Sounds of Liberty, struck a nerve in the early 80’s with their defiant, politically charged self-titled debut EP. At the intersection of punk and gothic new wave, the band’s evolution of sound continued resulting in their critically heralded, full-length record Dance With Me (1981) as well as many other fan coveted albums, with various lineup changes and reunions along the way, that cemented their legacy in the punk scene as one of the most influential bands to come out of California.
 
Now, nearly four decades later, original members Ron Emory, Mike Roche and Jack Grisham have returned to creative heights with one of their most inspired albums in decades with The Trigger Complex. Comprised of thirteen songs, the band’s new record runs the gamut of charging punk anthems to brooding rock songs that will no doubt please listeners. Given the country’s turbulent, divisive political climate it could not be better timing for the return of one of punk’s most important and vocal bands.

DUNE RATS DEBUT DANK NEW SINGLE, “SCOTT GREEN”

Australian stoner-punk band Dune Rats has dropped new single Scott Green, the next taste of their upcoming 2017 album on Dine Alone Records, and the follow up to Bullshit, which was released earlier this year.

Scott Green sees the Brisbane-Sydney three piece stuck at a party wondering “Who’s Scott Green?” – if the joke hasn’t hit you yet, check out the boys’ Facebook page for more info. The single was produced by Zac Carper of FIDLAR, who is on board for the whole album. Rumour has it, “Scott Green” will be home to another classic Dunies video – who knows what the boys have in store for this one, given their history of one-upping themselves with each new video?? The single is available now and will be followed shortly after by album release news.

The guys weighed in on how the single came to be:

“We made Scott Green out at Joshua Tree in America with Zac from Fidlar. We had 5 days to write some songs in between tours in the US & UK and we busted out a fuck load of tunes having a blast in the middle of bum fuck nowhere. One day we went to ask people at Walmart if they “Scott Green?”…and it took all day. When we got back Zac said “you better have a fucken song after wasting a day looking for who’s got green. We just started making a song about the day – “Who’s Scott Green” – and that was it.”

It’s been a non-stop ride since Dune Rats released their self-titled debut album in 2014, which Rolling Stone (Australia) dubbed an “unassuming statement of intent. No bullshit punk done well.” From sold-out Australian tours including co-headlining with punk legends Cosmic Psychos, to festivals around the world, 40 shows throughout Europe with The Subways and a HUGE North American tour with besties FIDLAR, the band have had a stunning ascent so far, which shows no sign of stopping.

Influential Orange County ska-punk band SAVE FERRIS will make their long awaited return in 2017 their first new EP and headlining, North American tour in over 15 years. HIGH HOPES UNVEIL EARTH CONSCIOUS VIDEO FOR “VANGUARD” Stand For Trees Hosting Exclusive Behind The Scenes Clip

HIGH HOPES have released “Vanguard,” the third single from their album Sights & Sounds.

On the earth-conscious video, vocalist Nick Brooks explains, “This world is our home, and it seems like we're going out of our way to destroy it. We've only got one shot on this planet and we need to stop taking it for granted. ‘Vanguard’ is a track that means a lot to us for this exact reason. If something isn't done soon there will be nothing left, we need to be the change to preserve the world for generations to come."

Drummer Daryl Pryor adds, "World issues aside, shooting ‘Vanguard’ was a whole lot of fun. All the rubbish that you see in the video was sourced from recycling plants and garbage bins, it was kind of gross sorting through it but we felt it definitely played a part in the meaning behind the video."

Since their formation in 2012, dangerkids have become one of the most anticipated and exciting bands in rock music. Originally written and recorded by famed composer John Williams for the original motion picture soundtrack for “Home Alone,” “Somewhere In My Memory” was nominated for Best Original Song by the Academy Awards after its release in 1990 and has since become a holiday classic.

“We've wanted to record a Christmas song for as long as I can remember,” says lead vocalist/guitarist Alan Day. “Dan and I finally decided to sit down and figure out a way to make it happen and we couldn't be happier about how it turned out. We wanted to do a song that hasn't been covered a million times, and “Home Alone” is one of the best movies ever made, so “Somewhere In My Memory” seemed like the perfect song. We hope our rendition gives everyone as much holiday cheer as we had while recording it. Merry Christmas!”

Four Year Strong is currently on tour in the U.S. with Good Charlotte, The Story So Far and Big Jesus in support of their latest, self-titled album which can be purchased now at iTunes. In early 2017 the band will head to Europe for their “Rise Or Die Trying 10th Anniversary Tour.”

The Attack - Interview with Charlie Bender

We talked with The Attack frontman Charlie Bender about the band, upcoming album, and tours with Big Wig and Less Than Jake.

Crowdsurf Central: How did the band start?
 
Charlie: The Attack started as a fun musical outlet.  It was follow up, get together and have a good time jamming and hanging out kind of thing, from our previous band Spitvalves.  It only made sense to take it more serious once everyone dug the direction of the music since we already knew each other well.

Who are some of your musical inspirations?
 
Of course, a lot of the early punk bands, American and British.  We’ve covered out fair share of The Clash, Ramones, Misfits, Minor Threat, you name it!  Even rock n roll stuff like Tom Petty and CCR.  The Bosstones played a roll in all of our upbringings, even though Brad was in Jersey/Boston and the rest of us were in Fl.  H2O, Bouncing Souls, Rancid, all of the early warped tour bands.  Those years were very memorable to us and helped shape the sound we have today.

When did the band start to draw attention from labels?
 
Probably once the first full length came out.  People realized that The Attack is a serious band with a DIY punk background and good ethics.  

What has changed most from when you first started playing together?
 
I would have to say songwriting.  We’ve slowed down a bit on the process.  Taking our time and making sure that we’re happy with all of the details.

What are you most proud of when it comes to your new album?
 
I feel that the songs are strong.  Each of them can stand up on their own, simple and effective.  Working with Pete Steinkopf was an honor and inspirational.  He pushed us to be better players and for the songs to be 100%.

How does it feel to be on tour with Big Wig?
 
We’ve been friends with Tom since the late 90’s.  He’s a great person and always down to lend a hand.  He mixed our first record.  It’s always a good time to hangout and share the stage with Bigwig.  

What are you looking forward to most while touring with LTJ?
 
A few things I guess.  The crowd is always so much fun to watch.  They’re so charismatic.  Singing as loud as they can while being pressed together yet never spilling a drop of beer!  It’s also inspirational that LTJ have been doing what they love for over 20years.  It shows when they’re on stage and their fans know it.  Lastly, it’s always a plus to see Roger’s dreads fly around!!!

Dropkick Murphy's Announce Spring Tour

The Dropkick Murphy's have announced their spring tour and slate of annual St. Patrick's Day shows in Boston.

Here's the details for the Boston shows....

As you can see on the tour poster, we have announced the dates of all the Boston shows, but not all the venues. Full details for all the Boston shows will be announced in the coming weeks. Today, we are ready to announce the two biggest Boston events - on Saturday March 18.

First off, we will return to Boston University’s Agganis Arena on Saturday MARCH 18.The Interrupters and Blood or Whiskey will open this show. The doors for this show are at 3:30, with music starting at 4:30. We go on at 6:30pm.

Following the March 18 Agganis Arena show, we’re throwing the OFFICIAL AFTER PARTY from 9pm to 1am at the HOUSE OF BLUES on Lansdowne Street. The party will feature the ST. PATRICK'S CLASH II PRO BOXING with local hero, US Marine Afghan Veteran, undefeated Light Middleweight Mark "Bazooka" DeLuca (16-0, 10KOs), as well as top local talent and some of Ireland's best fighters.

There will only be 1,000 tickets available for sale to the HOB After Party, as this is also our friends and family after party and we need to leave room for them.

Victory Records welcomes CAROUSEL KINGS to their roster. The Lancaster, Pennsylvania band has anchored their name as one of the most ambitious and creative pop/rock/punk machines in recent years. Today, long-time supporter Alternative Press brings you the video for “Bad Habit,” from the full length Charm City which hits earth on February 10th, 2017.

"Signing with Victory is an amazing accomplishment for us,” says singer David Alexander. “We've grown up listening to Victory bands, and we have friends that are on the label. Signing with them has just made us feel really valued and wanted. After meeting the whole crew, we definitely feel the mutual respect and look forward to doing great things with Victory!"

CAROUSEL KINGS was founded by Alexander in 2008, and it was a couple of years until this group of friends started to really focus on the band as a nationally touring act. The band released their debut album A Slice of Heaven on CI Records in 2012, followed by an EP Road Warrior later that year. A couple other EPs and singles followed on CI, and their tenure with the label culminated in the release of the highly celebrated second full-length album Unity in 2014. Soon thereafter, the CAROUSEL KINGS were truly united with the permanent addition of bassist Cody Williams and New Jersey natives Will Barovick on guitar and Danny Wilkins on drums.

Since then it’s been a non-stop road trip for CAROUSEL KINGS as the band toured extensively, performing with Panic! At The Disco, Less Than Jake, Rise Against, City Lights, and the 2015 Vans Warped Tour to name a few.
 
When CAROUSEL KINGS were thinking of a title for album number three, they wanted to find a name that was tranquil, yet matches their glossy pop melodies and arena-sized hooks. Charm City is about that dream place, a trippy world shared by all, yet unique to the individual. “This is the place where I go in my dreams,” says Alexander. “I want to connect the listener to my ‘Charm City’, and realize that they too can envision and live in their own ‘Charm City’ whenever they want to.”
 
“In the video, ‘Bad Habit’ is conveyed as a mid-life crisis,” explains Alexander. “It’s about realizing your mistakes and that you're the only one in control of your destiny, so make it count. Here, a guy loves his car and is persuaded by his girlfriend to sell it.  Deep in regret, he impulsively decides to steal it back.  Do what you do for yourself, and not what you think will make someone else happy.”
 
The concept behind the artwork was envisioned by famed visual designer Archan Nair, known for his collaborations with Kanye West and Lindsay Lohan. On the album cover, Alexander states, “The idea is a floating emerald city meets Neverland meets an Atlantis type place. A place you always have the urge to go back to because as beautiful as it is, the mystery is forever and it’s an everlasting escape. There is only one road to the city, and it’s in YOU.”
 
The first run of dates have been released as CAROUSEL KINGS will be on the road in support of Charm City throughout 2017.
